How does matching work?
Joi 1v1 pairs you with one person at a time from everyone who is online and ready to talk right now.
When you tap start, the system looks at who is currently online and connects you with a single person. That is the whole match — just the two of you, face to face.
Moving to the next person
If a match is not the right fit, tap next and you will be paired with someone new. Random chats are meant to be easy to leave — nobody is offended when a conversation ends, so never feel stuck.
Why matches are random
- Random pairing is what makes every conversation a small surprise.
- It keeps things spontaneous — you meet people you would never have searched for.
- Every match is strictly one-on-one, so it is always a real conversation, never a crowd.
